A Fragrant Dough

Candy still produced according to the traditional recipe of 1857. The first step involves mixing cold powdered sugar (96%) ground for purity, Arabic Gum and tragacanth with the addition of water, fruit juices, essential oils, natural extracts and colouring according to taste. It is the same with homemade pasta, the most important thing is to knead carefully!

Once all the ingredients are carefully mixed, the dough goes in a machine which, similar for pasta manufacturing, extends the dough at the desired height and then slides on a roll to where the original bronze moulds branded with “L” of Leone create the cylinder shape of the famous candy.

for More Than 24 Hours

As in pasta production, also for candy originals, the step of drying is very important and gives the final product its entire fragrance: the drying process takes almost 36 hours within hot air driers. The next step is hand selecting the candy and then packaging so the candy can finally be distributed all over the world! Trivia: The main ingredient of candy is sugar (96%) so they do not have an expiration date!
