Tins:
Pocket-Sized Sweetness

Original candy in the beginning and still today have been
sold unwrapped within apothecary vase; but the innovation
for which Pastiglie Leone was recognized in the confectionery
industry in 1880 was the idea of the pocket-sized tin. Tins,
originally made only in a metallic yellow / gold colour with

these have been modified during the ‘60s with the introduction

Leone’s Small Boxes:
Invented as Tin Refills

Leone’s symbol, the golden and yellow boxes with
black inscriptions and Savoy friezes were invented in the
first year of the 900 and used like tin box refills. In the
following years, the yellow boxes were sold wrapped in
white paper with the flavour name written in red. In 1999
there was the idea to produce coloured wrapping paper to
recognize the 30 flavours. The current candy original small
box, characterized by their delicate colours and charming
features, have been developed in 2009. Trivia: They
were first introduced in the American market in
2006, and later also on the Italian and
international markets.
