Torino, from sweetness capital to Italy’s one

Thanks to its success in Langhe territories and confidence to improve business, Luigi Leone decided to move. At that time Turin had the fragrant aroma of renovation and of chocolate, being the noble and elegant salon of a Country which was striving towards independence. It was later going to become the first capital of the unified Italy and meanwhile it had already achieved the title of ‘capital of sweetness’ thanks to its cafes, patisseries and distinguished confectioner’s shops. Leone opens the doors to its sweetness workshop in Turin, a sparkling shop of delicacies and Candy originals. Leone’s irresistible flavours soon became renowned in the city; the famous statesman Mr Camillo Benso Earl of Cavour was an avid consumer of Leone’s violet candy at the Royal Savoy House too, this being the reason why the candy packaging is decorated with Savoy’s ensign. After the death of the founder the sweetness laboratory is transferred to a family that will handle it just for a few years.
